Shape Shifting Across Social Media

Individuals change and adapt their behavior according to social situation (e.g., transitioning from work home). However, how does this shape shifting of self-presentations identity translate into various online platforms? This exploratory study utilizes a novel mixed methodological approach better understand user across media platforms. We interviewed 22 participants employed repertory grid technique reveal deeper similarities differences in found that users had variety strategies for managing multiple audiences Almost all actively separated professional LinkedIn) Facebook or Instagram) oriented platforms typically by self-censorship posts rather than utilizing audience management tools.
